About indigo dyeing and Shibori

Indigo dyeing is a traditional method of dyeing fabric. It is normal to see inconsistencies in the colour throughout the fabric and is considered to be part of the charm of a hand dyed product. It is normal for the indigo to fade a little over time and washing. Shibori is a traditional Japanese method of had hand tying fabric to produce different patterns.

How do you get your recycled denim and how is it prepared?

Mickey and Lou love to save quality fabrics from landfill. We spend lots of time in local charity shops selecting the best quality denim. We figure this way not only are we doing our little bit to help the environment but we are supporting local charities at the same time.

Once we have the denim it is subject to several washes (some at high temperature) with eco detergent to ensure the denim won't shrink any further and is as clean as can be. It is then cut up and transformed!

Where do you get your leather?

The leather we use for handles and to accessorise our products is sourced locally from one of the oldest tanneries in Sydney.
